Kylian Mbappé vs Cristiano Ronaldo: Who Reached 50 Goals Quicker at Real Madrid?

Kylian Mbappé has written his name into Real Madrid’s history books after scoring his 50th goal for the club, but how does his record stack up against Cristiano Ronaldo’s?

The French superstar has been unstoppable since his blockbuster move to Spain, netting 44 goals in his debut 2024–25 season — more than any Madrid player has ever scored in their first campaign. Even though that season ended without silverware, his individual numbers were breathtaking.

Mbappé has carried that form into the 2025–26 season, bagging six goals in his first five games, averaging a strike every 74.5 minutes — reminiscent of Ronaldo at his peak.

In total, it has taken Mbappé 64 matches to hit the 50-goals mark, averaging one every 103.8 minutes. Of those goals, 10 came from penalties and one from a direct free-kick.

Cristiano Ronaldo, however, reached the same milestone 10 games faster. During his first spell at Madrid, the Portuguese icon needed only 54 matches to hit 50 goals. His tally included nine penalties and an incredible eight direct free-kicks, while also delivering more assists than Mbappé managed in his first 50.

So while Mbappé’s numbers are historic in their own right — setting a new debut-season record — Ronaldo’s blistering start still stands as the benchmark for Real Madrid forwards.

What do you think — has Mbappé already proven he can follow in Ronaldo’s footsteps, or does the Portuguese legend’s record still set him apart?

Share your thoughts in the comments below — do you back Mbappé to surpass Ronaldo’s legacy at Real Madrid, or is the standard simply too high?
