Singer Asake New Look Cause Fight Among Nigerians
There’s been a stir in the music and fashion world lately as Afrobeats star Ahmed Ololade aka Asake unveiled a drastically different style — one that’s been getting everyone talking.
Instead of his signature dreadlocks, the singer now rocks a much shorter hairstyle, and he’s added facial tattoos in several places.
Asake explained his transformation during an interview on the red carpet at the 2025 Grammy Awards. He said the change is about comfort and self-expression — how he feels now.
“This is how I feel now. I love to feel comfortable in my look, do things that I feel are good for me. This is not about anybody. … I might wake up tomorrow and you won’t see any tattoos on my face.”
People on social media have been reacting — some are supportive, others are concerned. A section of fans says they miss his old look, especially the dreadlocks. Others are saying he’s evolving, and this fresh style fits the new chapter of his career.
The “military era” is how Asake himself describes this phase. His fashion now leans more edgy — tattoos, shorter hair, ripped clothes, bold accessories.
He also recently previewed new music, which many believe aligns with this shift in aesthetics — the change in look seems timed with his upcoming releases.
